Methinks the main reason for depression in these IITs is the intense peer pressure, family pressure and competitiveness these students face, rather than being lonely and aloof.. Just goes on to show how screwed up our logic can be.. This ought to have been one of the articles for “Analysis of an Argument” on GRE.. Sheesh..

I was at IITB in January, and several students came to me and told me about this planned move. I had laughed it off, saying there was no way that the IIT authorities would be so stupid, especially given that night is the best time for any kind of online research.

Turns out that I had misjudged the level that people would stoop to. This is incredible. Next they will ban textbooks, turn off the electricity at 9pm and do fingernail-and-handkerchief inspections every morning.

    Bah!

But their exacting curriculum, tough competition and reclusive campus lifestyle have taken a toll on students.

When this is the reason, let them change the above and not take out the net conn. I thought only IT companies were stupid in India to provide only google net connection in office. But, these guys are worse.
