So I finished reading The Picture Of Dorian Gray today. Oscar Wilde writes … well, words would not do it justice. The effect on the senses defeats any attempt to describe. What next? Possibly Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Idiot. Though I do crave for some Sci-Fi. Watched some part of Contact. I want to read the book now, to see how much justice they did it. The movie was not too bad, though it felt a little dumbed down (to the point where a prime number needs to be defined).
Had a most depressing and infuriating conversation with
Played basketball for more than an hour yesterday. The sweet soreness of physical exertion. :-) That, and somewhat regular sessions of TT are completely failing to keep me from growing fat. As I tell everybody, just think of it as a sign of prosperity.
My office is going to move to Old Madras Road. I happily look forward to spending 3 hours a day commuting.
I’m looking for good (don’t know how to define that generically) guitar tutor somewhere between Jayanagar and Koramangala. Or possibly Indiranagar, given the location of my new office. Suggestions, O audience?
Now, to find something to do…
Coldplay – Clocks — what is it about this song?

Felt the same about “The Chronicles of Narnia” and “Shawshank Redemption” among other movies.
Amen. That is a brilliant book.
I am halfway through Contact as well (the book) and .. well, you should read it :)
Thanks for the advice — will plan a trip to Eloor soon.
hey hey, ‘contact’ the book is WAAY better than the movie- no silly love scenes between the woman and the religious guy. and there’s this totally awesome scene which i wish they had included in the movie- where she’s trying to prove to him that her belief in science wins over survival instincts (my interpretation of that scene after all these years… i can’t recall why exactly she felt the need to do what she did, in the book)
anyway, so they find this mammoth pendulum (where, i cannot remember), calculate precisely where it reaches its point of zero velocity, and she stands right over there. the bet is that, if she flinches away from the pendulum as it comes hurtling towards her, she loses.
and so she stands there, staring at the HUGE ball of iron come swinging towards her, and just when you think its going to smash into her face, it stops like a millimeter from her face, and starts in the opposite direction.
wouldn’t that have made an awesome scene in the movie? :)
I don’t know, because I refuse to read what you’ve written till I read the book itself. No spoiler alert?! :D
:) ooooh sorry, but honest, it’s not a spoiler!
